Media advisory: KU chancellor to speak at Fort Leavenworth Black History Month event

Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little

More Information

LAWRENCE — University of Kansas Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little will be the keynote speaker at Fort Leavenworth’s Black History Month luncheon at noon Thursday, Feb. 9. She’ll discuss the role the United States military has played in the civil rights movement and how it is an example of an organization that — in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King’s call for equality — evaluates its members based on merit, not race.

The luncheon will take place in the Frontier Conference Center, 350 Biddle Blvd.

The university and Fort Leavenworth work together on a range of initiatives, including a KU partnership with the Command and General Staff College on several degree programs and courses. Gray-Little is the first female and first African-American chancellor of KU.
