Adults can head back to class at KU's Mini College
LAWRENCE – The University of Kansas College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites all lifelong learners to skip the beach vacation and instead hit the books this summer at Mini College.
Known as a “summer camp for adults,” Mini College is a weeklong program at the Lawrence campus in which participants enroll in a variety of classes taught by KU faculty. This year’s Mini College takes place from June 4 to June 7.
Dozens of course offerings are available in this year’s schedule. The classes come from disciplines across the College, which is the largest academic unit at KU. As in years past, participants will be able to choose classes in the arts, natural sciences, mathematics, social and behavioral sciences, and the humanities. This year’s schedule will also include an even wider range of options with the addition of courses from KU School of Business faculty.

• Tour the Great Buddhist Temples of Korea
• You Too Can Be a Theoretical Physicist
• Get the Picture: Viewing and Understanding Art
• Roots and Branches of the 2012 Phenomenon
• Investing Behaviors to Avoid
Registration is open now online, where you can learn more about courses and activities offered during the week. Space is limited for some courses and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Classes take place in buildings on the main campus, mostly on Jayhawk Boulevard.
At just $225, the registration fee covers courses, special events, extracurricular activities and lunch during the week. Accommodations have been arranged at special rates in the area for participants. For the full college experience, participants can even stay in student housing.
In addition to its partnership with the School of Business, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences’ Mini College is co-sponsored by The Commons at KU.
Mini College has been providing lifelong learners the opportunity to rediscover the student experience since the summer of 2009. More than 125 participants have signed up in each of the first three years. All KU alumni and non-alumni are welcome to attend.
