LAWRENCE — Prominent political practitioners, including strategists, journalists and pollsters, will analyze the 2012 election results at the Post-Election Conference, sponsored by the Dole Institute of Politics at the University of Kansas.

The event will take place from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, and 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at the Dole Institute. The conference is free and open to the public.

The 2012 conference will focus on the hard-fought presidential campaign, how President Obama's next term will differ from his first and the future of the GOP.

Since 2006, the Dole Institute of Politics has hosted a biennial Post-Election Conference that delves into the key strategies of elections to analyze how and why they are won and lost.

"Because the panelists are able to delve into key strategies of how and why elections are won and lost, this is one of the most important and interesting programs we organize," said Dole Institute Director Bill Lacy. "It's a special opportunity to hear from individuals directly involved in this year's campaign."

Representatives from each presidential campaign as well as other key political insiders will weigh in on issues surrounding the election and its outcome. They will also address the policy issues now facing the Obama administration in its second term.

Panelists thus far will include Rich Beeson, political director for Mitt Romney; Brent Colburn, national communications director for Obama; Jeremy Bird, national field director for Obama; Katy Gage, deputy campaign manager for Romney; Marlon Marshall, deputy national field director for Obama; Erin McPike, national political reporter for "RealClearPolitics"; Jerry Seib, Washington bureau chief of The Wall Street Journal; Jonathan Martin, journalist for Politico; Jeff Zeleny, political correspondent for the The New York Times; Joe Lenski, executive vice president and co-founder of Edison Media Research; and Nancy Dwight, 2012 Fall Dole Fellow and Republican strategist.

Previous Post-Election Conferences at the Dole Institute have been acknowledged by The New York Times and FiveThirtyEight.com as premiere events for inside analysis on election results.
