Media advisory: Law professor can comment on Supreme Court taking same-sex marriage case

LAWRENCE —Richard E. Levy, J.B. Smith Distinguished Professor of Constitutional Law, is available to speak with media about the Supreme Court’s announcement that it will rule on the legality of same-sex marriage in this term.

The high court announced that it would hear arguments on the case in April and issue a ruling before the term ends in June. Although the court declined to take up the issue in October 2013, contradictory rulings from circuit courts made it clear that the Supreme Court would have to resolve the issue.

Levy can discuss constitutional law, previous circuit court decisions, what the Supreme Court’s eventual decision will mean for states and resulting legal questions.
