Mathematics to host PDE conference

LAWRENCE — The KUMU PDE, Dynamical Systems and Applications conference will take place April 18-19 at the University of Kansas. The conference, hosted by the universities of Kansas and Missouri mathematics departments, is organized by Mathew Johnson, KU assistant professor of mathematics; Milena Stanislavova, KU professor of mathematics, and Carmen Chicone and Yuri Latushkin, MU professors of mathematics.

The conference will examine the existence and dynamics of nonlinear waves in dispersive and dissipative PDE, as well as extensions of Kolmogorov-Arnold-Moser theory to PDE’s relating fluid flow. The conference will bring together specialists working in the different aspects of PDEs and Dynamical Systems and explore the connections between these fields in more depth as well as to stimulate interactions among regional researchers in these areas.

The conference is sponsored by the National Science Foundation, Institute of Mathematics and Its Applications, and the departments of Mathematics at KU and MU.
