LAWRENCE — Beginning with the first home game Saturday, Sept. 5, the proceeds of football programs at home games will support both University of Kansas campus awareness and education efforts to combat sexual violence as well as the comeback of the beloved Student Union Activities carnival.

Part of this season’s program proceeds will go to the Office of Student Affairs to carry out multiple educational interventions and exposures to sexual violence prevention programs.

Proceeds also will help Student Union Activities pay for the campus carnival which was Aug. 29 at the Lied Center. The event welcomed KU students and helped nontraditional and international students meet other students and engage with university departments.

The Proud to Be a Jayhawk tailgating fundraiser began in 2001. Since then, the program proceeds have raised more than $50,000 for community programs.

Tailgating and shuttle bus information:

Fans 21 and older may tailgate with alcohol in designated areas during a three-hour pregame period and during halftime. Tailgating with alcohol is not permitted during game time. Free shuttle buses will begin running two hours before game time from campus parking lots to the east side of Memorial Stadium.

Designated tailgating lots that are pre-sold through Williams Fund are 1, 3, 34, 36, 39, 52, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 61, 65, 72, 90, 91, 94, and lot 96. Tailgating is permitted in the Mississippi Street parking garage, but no cooking is allowed. A map can be found in the 2015 Kansas Football Fan Guide.

Parking and Transit will sell parking spaces in lot 72, between the Allen Fieldhouse parking garage and the Burge Union, and lots 34 (behind Price Computing Center) and 61 (east of Price Computing Center). All are approved tailgating lots and are served by a free shuttle, which can be picked up on Irving Hill Road by lot 72 or at the Price Computing Center, for travel to and from Memorial Stadium. Parking is $25 per stall. Fans with RVs are encouraged to park in lot 72, where room to accommodate them is more ample.

For fans with disabilities, there are 12 parking stalls in lot 59 on the stadium's west side and 26 stalls in lot 94 on the east side.  There is also an accessible shuttle that runs from lots 72, 34 and 61 when the proximate accessible stalls are full.  Each costs $25.

Alcohol consumption is not permitted on campus or city streets.

In addition to providing portable toilets in all designated tailgating areas, Kansas Athletics will provide burn buckets for fans to safely dispose of hot coals.

In an effort to comply with all Homeland Security recommendations and provide the safest atmosphere for coaches, players and fans, backpacks and other large bags are not allowed in Memorial Stadium.

Tailgating rules:

• Alcohol may be consumed only during a three-hour period before kickoff and during halftime in designated tailgating areas.
• Underage drinking, disorderly conduct or other unlawful conduct will not be tolerated.
• No kegs or other alcohol containers with a capacity greater than 1 gallon may be brought into a tailgating area. Fans are strongly encouraged not to use or bring glass containers.
• Alcohol may not be brought into Memorial Stadium.
