KU announces 2016 Homecoming details

LAWRENCE—“Rock Chalk Super Hawk” is the theme for the 2016 University of Kansas Homecoming celebration, which will begin Sunday, Oct. 16, and feature daily activities leading up to the KU-Oklahoma State football game Saturday, Oct. 22, in Memorial Stadium.

The Homecoming parade will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, on Massachusetts Street in downtown Lawrence, followed by a pep rally on Eighth Street between Massachusetts and New Hampshire streets.

The KU Alumni Association and the student-led Homecoming Steering Committee selected the theme. The student director of KU’s 104th Homecoming is Katie Gerard, a junior from Hanover majoring in supply chain management. She will work closely with Alumni Association staff member Jacey Krehbiel, assistant director of alumni programs, Homecoming and the Kansas Honors Program.

Other Steering Committee members and their duties include:

Awards: Kai McClure, a junior from Winfield majoring in finance

Campus Outreach: Bailee Myers, a junior from Tecumseh majoring in marketing; Hannah Wilson, a junior from Topeka majoring in microbiology; Mitch Nolan, a junior from Shawnee majoring in business management and leadership

Community Outreach: Bryan Andrade, a sophomore from Olathe majoring in film and media studies and strategic communications; Annie Foster, a sophomore from Mission Hills majoring in pre-business; Toby Imam, a junior from Houston majoring in civil engineering

Publicity: Kara Kahn, a sophomore from Bucyrus majoring in strategic communications

Parade: Nellie Kassebaum, a freshman from Burdick; and Emma Berger, a junior from Lawrence majoring in business management and leadership.
