KU community mourns death of student Daniel Weyand
LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas community is mourning the death of student Daniel Weyand, who died May 28.
Weyand had received a degree in linguistics with a minor in Italian from the University of Oregon in 2011. He was studying chemistry at KU.
“We are deeply saddened to hear of the death of Daniel Weyand. I want to extend, on behalf of the university, my sincere condolences to Danny’s parents, family and friends,” said Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little. "Our hearts go out to them during this difficult time."
A memorial service will take place at 6 p.m. today, June 2, at Shawnee Mission Park.
