LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas has announced the Employees of the Month for December 2016:

Name: Adam Braun
Title: IT senior programmer, Information Technology

What that means: In his role, Braun provides web development support services for the University of Kansas and various units. He is responsible for the design, layout and coding of university websites. Although his primary responsibilities are to support the Human Resource Management’s websites, he has stepped up to support Design and Construction Management as well.

Notable: One of the projects that Braun, along with other developers, took on was a complete redesign of the Spencer Museum of Art’s website. This was a huge project, and Braun repeatedly went above and beyond in helping that project be successful.

In 2012, KU made the decision to move all websites into the Drupal content management system (CMS). Braun has become the go-to guy for even the stickiest of Drupal issues. Braun has been asked to help develop the next KU template because of his mastery level.

As the team of departmental web developers has grown, it became apparent that there was a need for more leaders within the team. Braun has adapted well to being a team lead and has excelled with all of the additional tasks that have come his way. Braun is a perfect mix of being incredibly competent in his field, jovial, approachable and a great communicator.

Name: Samantha Norman
Title: Unit manager, North College Café

What that means: Norman supervises and trains students, providing consistent leadership and setting high expectations for staff.

Notable: Norman has a keen eye for making the food court and stations look their best during special events. Norman makes many of the decorations used in the dining unit and has an impressive gift for decorating the food court space. Norman often helps others decorate for events as well. She’s always willing to step in to assist a co-worker.

Norman has been described as the “greatest team player ever." She will go above and beyond her duties to help execute special events. Norman is entirely committed to making work a group effort and does not seek out recognition for her efforts. She consistently works to direct praise and attention to staff around her. Norman is due for recognition for her efforts.

Norman is very aware of each person’s unique skills and opinions and shows respect for everyone. Norman inspires the people who work for her to work at a higher level and is very dedicated to her job. Without her, her area would not perform at such a high level. Norman is the glue that holds her area together.
