Deadline approaching to register for doctoral hooding ceremony

LAWRENCE — The doctoral degree is the supreme achievement in higher education. This year, the University of Kansas will celebrate the accomplishments of hundreds of candidates, conferring their degrees at the 2017 Doctoral Hooding Ceremony at 7:30 p.m. May 13 in the Lied Center. KU will recognize doctoral candidates from all of the professional schools at KU, including KU Medical Center, as well as the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.

The Office of Graduate Studies will also present the Argersinger Dissertation Awards for students who have written outstanding doctoral dissertations.

August and December 2016 doctoral graduates and May and August 2017 doctoral degree candidates are eligible to participate in the ceremony. Registration is mandatory. Priority registration is due March 17, and all registrations must be received no later than March 27.

Due to the popularity of this event, all guests in attendance must have tickets. (Graduating candidates and hooding faculty do not need tickets.) Tickets for the ceremony will be distributed to students who have registered for the event. A live video stream of the ceremony will also be available during the event.

Students, faculty, staff and guests can learn more about the hooding ceremony at the Office of Graduate Studies website.

The Office of the Chancellor provides information about the universitywide 2017 Commencement Ceremonies. Master's degree graduates should contact their departments and review the commencement ceremonies event list. For master's degree students in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, information is available on the College website.
