LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas invites media to cover the university’s 145th Commencement on Sunday, May 14, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

William McNulty, an Iraq War veteran and co-founder of Team Rubicon, will be awarded an honorary degree, a Doctor of Humane Letters for outstanding contributions to global humanitarian and relief efforts. The ceremony also marks Bernadette Gray-Little’s final public appearance as KU’s chancellor.

At 10:30 a.m., graduates begin the traditional “walk down the Hill” to Memorial Stadium, followed by a program and the conferral of degrees by Gray-Little. The ceremony lasts about two hours.

Members of the news media are welcome to capture photos or video from any publicly accessible area.

News media still photographers with their outlet’s credentials or KU credentials will be allowed in the photo pen on the Campanile plaza as space allows, and on the football field. Because of space constraints, the only news media allowed on the Campanile plaza are still photographers.

Photographers needing KU credentials may contact KU News Service at 785-864-8858.

Unmanned aerial systems, including drones, are prohibited anywhere near Memorial Stadium or the Campanile during the event, per Federal Aviation Administration regulations.

Additional details, including an inclement weather plan, are available at commencement.ku.edu.
