KU plans commemorative 9/11 event

LAWRENCE — Sixteen years after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the University of Kansas community will remember the event with a ceremony on the Lawrence campus.

After tolling of the Campanile bells at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, the ceremony will begin at 8 p.m. at the Campanile Plaza with remarks by Chancellor Douglas A. Girod. It will be followed by a candle lighting at 8:15 p.m.

The event is sponsored by KU Student Veterans of America, KU Veterans Alumni Network, the Office of Graduate Military Programs and KU Military-Affiliated Student Center.
