KPR will host 3rd annual Ice Cream Social

LAWRENCE — To thank its listeners for being a supporter of local news, music and events, Kansas Public Radio will host an ice cream social from 5 to 7 p.m. June 20 at the Union Pacific Depot in north Lawrence.

“Retro Cocktail Hour” host Darrell Brogdon will spin some summertime tunes at the event, which will include complimentary Hy-Vee ice cream and Alchemy iced coffee while supplies last at the depot, 402 N. Second St.

The first 200 KPR members (giving $60 or more annually) will receive their ice cream in a new KPR mug. Nonmembers don’t need to worry; KPR is encouraging everyone to bring their own mug to fill with ice cream, and biodegradable cups will also be available.

Attendees can also mingle with KPR hosts and other listeners. For children, there will be a busker performance by Richard Renner and face painting from Fairy Fox Designs.

KPR would like to thank Hy-Vee, Alchemy Coffee, and Blue Collar Press for their contributions to the event.

KPR is licensed to the University of Kansas, broadcasts on 91.5 FM and 96.1 FM in Lawrence, 89.7 FM in Emporia, 91.3 FM in Olsburg-Junction City, 89.9 FM in Atchison, 90.3 FM in Chanute, and 99.5 FM and 97.9 FM in Manhattan.
