Dole Institute's 2020 Post-Election Conference to debut as video series

LAWRENCE — The Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics at the University of Kansas has announced that the biennial Post-Election Conference will debut as an 11-part video series on the institute’s YouTube channel.

"Our Post-Election Conference is one of the most anticipated events we have at the institute,” Director Bill Lacy said. “However, COVID-19 made it impossible to hold the conference the way we have in the past. Given the historic nature of this year’s election, we felt canceling the conference was not an option. So, we have gathered 11 world-class guests for a video series that delves deeply into one of the most unique national elections in our country’s history.”

Each guest was interviewed individually by Lacy, allowing for in-depth analysis and insight. All videos are currently available for viewing.

The guests for the 2020 Post-Election Conference:

  • Dan Balz, Washington Post chief correspondent
  • Francesca Chambers, White House correspondent for McClatchy
  • Frank Fahrenkopf, chairman and co-founder of the Commission on Presidential Debates
  • Max Glass, campaign manager for Barbara Bollier
  • Michael Glassner, chief operating officer for Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign
  • Katie Glueck, national politics reporter at The New York Times
  • Jeff Greenfield, a veteran political, media and culture reporter and analyst for CBS, CNN, ABC and PBS
  • Steven Jacques, Democratic adviser to three White House administrations
  • Joe Lenski, exit pollster and co-founder and executive vice president of Edison Research
  • Eric Pahls, campaign manager for Roger Marshall
  • Erin Wilson, national political director for Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign.

The Dole Institute hosts a comprehensive biennial Post-Election Conference following each national election. It’s a fascinating two-day discussion on how and why elections are won and lost. A goal of Lacy’s since he joined the Dole Institute in 2004, the Post-Election Conference began in December 2006 and includes state and national strategists, pollsters, journalists and campaign officials.

The Dole Institute of Politics is dedicated to promoting political and civic participation as well as civil discourse in a bipartisan, philosophically balanced manner. It is located in KU's West District and houses the Dole Archive and Special Collections. Through its robust public programming, congressional archive and museum, the Dole Institute strives to celebrate public service and the legacies of U.S. Senators Bob Dole and Elizabeth Dole.
