School of Music will host 2nd annual Lift Every Voice concert

LAWRENCE — Nineteen voice students with the University of Kansas School of Music will stage a concert this week, performing songs by Black composers including Duke Ellington, Margaret Bonds, Florence Price and H. Leslie Adams.

The second annual Lift Every Voice Concert celebrates the contributions of Black composers to American music. As Black History Month comes to a close, the concert offers the audience a moment to collectively reflect on our history.

The concert will be livestreamed on the School of Music’s YouTube channel, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 5, from Swarthout Recital Hall.
