Final candidate for Academic Accelerator Program directorship to give presentation

LAWRENCE — The final interview for a new academic director of the KU Academic Accelerator Program (KUAAP) will take place Thursday, May 7.

Roberta Pokphanh, assistant dean for graduate studies at the University of Kansas, will deliver an open presentation at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Centennial Room of the Kansas Union. The topic is “How Do We Best Enable International Students to Flourish at KU?”

The KUAAP is a partnership between KU and Shorelight Education that combines English language instruction through the Applied English Center, academic instruction through the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, and services and support to help students acculturate to a new social, linguistic and academic environment.

Working in collaboration with CLAS and its academic units, the AEC, administrative offices and students, the director will ensure the delivery of a high-quality academic experience for all students in the program.
