College of Liberal Arts & Sciences hosts State of the College

LAWRENCE – The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at the University of Kansas will host its first-ever State of the College this fall.

The event is an opportunity for faculty, staff and students to learn about the priorities of Dean Carl Lejuez, who began his tenure in spring 2016. In a brief update, the dean will discuss three key priorities for the College in the coming year:

• Enhance student success with a student-centered approach
• Support and increase research and scholarly productivity and effect
• Infuse diversity, equity and inclusion into the College culture   

It also offers a forum for feedback, with the majority of time reserved for Q&A with attendees.

“We have faced our share of challenges, but our students, alumni, faculty, staff and community partners have risen to help the College meet these challenges in a manner that aims to be forward-looking and inclusive of our diverse voices. I’m excited about all the possibilities for the College this year,” Lejuez said. “Input has been crucial for me and our fantastic team of associate deans and leadership staff as we’ve considered how to advance the goals of the College and the campus. I look forward to sharing where we are going and gaining more insight during our conversations at the State of the College.”

The State of the College is open to the public. It will take place at 4 p.m. Sept. 27 at The Commons. The event will be recorded and available for viewing following the event.

The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences is the broadest, most diverse academic unit at KU. It is home to more than 50 departments, programs and centers, as well as the School of the Arts, School of Literatures, Languages & Cultures, and School of Public Affairs & Administration.
