Final candidate for dean of Business to present Tuesday

LAWRENCE — Greg Mosier, dean of the College of Business at the University of Nevada, Reno, will make a public presentation Tuesday, May 2, as a candidate for dean for the University of Kansas School of Business.

He is the last of three candidates for the position to make public presentations during their respective campus visits. His presentation will take place at 1 p.m. in The Colloquium, 1010 Capitol Federal Hall. A reception will follow.

Mosier is the author or co-author of dozens of journal articles and publications with research focusing on technology and the law, commercial law and international business. He has been dean and distinguished international professor for the UNR College of Business since 2007.

Mosier previously served as interim dean of the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University. He joined the OSU faculty in 1985 and held a number of academic and leadership roles, including serving as associate dean of the program from 1993 to 1997. He was Regents Service Professor and the Puterbaugh professor of ethics and legal studies in business during the 2006-2007 academic year. Mosier also held an appointment with the School of International Studies from 1999 to 2002. He was interim dean for OSU’s Spears School of Business from 2004 to 2006 and also during the 1994-1995 academic year.

From 1997 to 2004 he was a member of the Academic Executive Committee and MBA program chair of National Technological University, which was acquired by Sylvan Learning Systems. His service activities include working as president of the Western Association of Collegiate Schools of Business in 2012. He also is a member of the Board of Trustees for KNPB, public television, and a member of the State of Nevada Trade Delegation.

Mosier has a doctorate in higher education administration from Oklahoma State University and a juris doctor from KU. He also has a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from OSU. His career includes time as a corporate attorney, having worked in the oil and gas industry in Texas. He is a member of the state bars of Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma. He has received many teaching, civic and industry honors over the course of his career.

The dean of business search committee — led by Michael Branicky, dean of the School of Engineering — invites students, faculty and staff to attend the presentations and provide feedback of their impressions. Each candidate will prepare a presentation on the topic: “Advancing the Stature and Impact of the KU School of Business.”

Candidate presentations will be recorded and available for viewing online after the final candidate has appeared on campus. Evaluations of all candidates are due by noon Wednesday, May 3.

The KU School of Business is home to more than 110 faculty and staff and over 2,200 students at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral level. The school is one of only 185 schools with AACSB accreditation and has an operating budget of $25 million. In May 2016, the School opened Capitol Federal Hall, a state-of-the-art $70.5 million facility funded primarily by private donations that provides leading-edge technology and education resources for its faculty, staff and students.
