Public invited to inclusive recreation event


LAWRENCE — KU Recreation Services, together with the University of Kansas Department of Health, Sport & Exercise Sciences and Amateur Sport Research Center, have announced the first Inclusive Recreation Extravaganza. The event will take place 4:30-7:30 p.m. today, April 17, at Ambler Student Recreation Fitness Center.

The event will feature a bench press demonstration by Brady Tanner, a Special Olympics three-time gold and onetime silver medalist. There will be accessible equipment, information tables and many events to participate in, including goal ball, wheelchair team handball, unified soccer, mixed-ability dance, sit volleyball, therapy dogs and more.

The community is invited to this free event. All participants are encouraged to come dressed to play. For a schedule of events, please see recreation.ku.edu.
