KU seeks public comment in advance of accreditation review

LAWRENCE —The University of Kansas is currently preparing an extensive self-study to prepare for a universitywide reaccreditation review by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association.

Accreditation assures KU’s students that their academic programs meet nationally recognized standards. Accreditation is also required in order for KU to receive federal funds for student financial aid and research. KU was granted a full 10-year accreditation, without stipulations, on June 24, 2005.

Over the past year and a half, the university community has been engaged in the extensive data gathering and evaluation necessary to prepare a self-study report compiling the accomplishments of KU and assembling evidence that KU has met the criteria for reaccreditation.

In preparation for the 2015 periodic evaluation, KU is seeking comments from the public. KU will host a visit Feb. 9-11, 2015, with a team representing the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association. The team will review the institution’s ongoing ability to meet the commission’s Criteria for Accreditation.

KU has has been accredited by the Commission since 1913.

The public is invited to submit comments regarding the university:
