KUJH-TV, University Daily Kansan earn Pinnacle Awards

LAWRENCE — KUJH-TV and the University Daily Kansan received numerous awards Nov. 1 and 2 at the College Media Association Fall Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Pinnacle Awards honor the best student work produced for any college media organization, including print, broadcast and online outlets, during the 2013-2014 academic year.

"We are proud of the total team effort that it takes to win an award such as this. It is a great example of how our program develops quality student journalists that work together in deadline-driven situations," said Chris Bacon, KUJH-TV executive producer.

KUJH-TV won a first place award in Best TV Newscast. The University Daily Kansan won first in Best Rate Card/Media Kit and Best Display Ad categories. The newspaper took second place awards in Best Sports Feature, Best Online Ad and Best Ad Campaign, while securing a third place finish in Best House Ad.

“We are proud of the students and the work they do every day,” said Ann Brill, dean of the School of Journalism. “Awards validate that their work is among the best in the country.”
