Research workshop aimed at community engagement


LAWRENCE — Researchers from across campus are invited to come to SHOW: Your Research (SHaring through Outreach Workshop) at the Commons from 1-5 p.m. Sept. 30. The workshop, sponsored by the KU chapter of Sigma Xi, will help faculty and student groups focus on engaging more with the community by showcasing their scholarly activity in an accessible way. The workshop will include an expert panel, whose guests include:

  • Steven Case, director of the Center for STEM Learning and co-director of the UKan Teach Program
  • Ben Smith, director of social and emerging media at Callahan Creek, founder and host of ConfabuLarryum
  • Celka Straughn, assistant specialist at the Spencer Museum of Art
  • Lorin Maletsky, associate dean for undergraduate studies, School of Engineering

Other events include an exhibition period for those who are engaged in outreach activities to share their work and discussion tables where attendees can meet with the exhibitors and experts to discuss their ideas for outreach activities.
