School of Education to host 22nd annual Sayers & Pollard Golf Classic

LAWRENCE — Scot Pollard, an alumnus of the KU School of Education, will host the 22nd Annual Gale Sayers & Scot Pollard Golf Classic in partnership with the School’s administration Sept. 23 at Alvamar Country Club.

The 18-hole tournament is scheduled to tee off at 1:30 p.m. with dinner, awards and prizes to follow. Interested golfers are required to register a team of four individuals (regardless of age or golfing ability) for a team. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for those who are not able to gather a team or make it to the Lawrence area.

“Each year the event gets bigger and better. This year, we’ll have a trick shot artist as well as food and beverage vendors at specific holes throughout the course,” Pollard said. “Dawn and I are honored to continue the golf classic legacy in support of School of Education Multicultural Scholars Program scholarships.”

Salty Iguana will sponsor the post-tournament dinner, and other confirmed sponsors and vendors for the event include 23rd Street Brewery and Issachar Cigar.

The golf tournament is one of many of the school’s alumni events and is intended to engage alumni and support a range of scholarship funds, affecting all types of Multicultural Scholars Program scholarship recipients studying in the School of Education.

“We are indebted to Gale for his years of support and to Scot and Dawn for all of their time and energy. Future students will continue to be the beneficiaries of the proceeds raised from the tournament,” said Rick Ginsberg, dean of the School of Education.

The golf tournament is open to the public, and all ages and abilities are welcome to participate. More information and online registration can be found here.
The KU School of Education is a nationally ranked school, serving educators to prepare them as leaders.
