School of Education’s Sayers & Pollard Golf Classic set for Sept. 29

LAWRENCE — Scot Pollard and his wife, Dawn, in partnership with the School of Education, will host the 24th Annual Gale Sayers & Scot Pollard Golf Classic on Friday, Sept. 29, at Eagle Bend Golf Course.

The 18-hole tournament is scheduled to tee off at noon with dinner, awards and prizes to follow. New this year, golfers will be awarded for best team name and best team uniform.

The golf tournament is open to the public and all ages and abilities are welcome to participate. Interested golfers are required to register a team of four individuals (regardless of age or golfing ability) for a team. Online registration can be found here.

“This year’s event looks to be the biggest and best yet,” said Scot Pollard. “Don’t miss out on helping a great cause and having some fun doing so.”

Sponsorship opportunities are also available for those who are not able to gather a team or make it to the Lawrence area. Salty Iguana will sponsor lunch at Eagle Bend before the tournament begins, and dinner will be served by 23rd Street Brewery with post-tournament activities. Cigars will also be provided by Issachar Cigar.

The golf tournament is one of many of the school’s alumni events and is intended to engage alumni and support the Multicultural Scholars Program scholarship recipients studying with the School of Education.

“We are indebted to Gale for his years of support and to Scot and Dawn for all of their time and energy,” said Rick Ginsberg, dean of the School of Education. “Future students in our Multicultural Scholars Program will continue to be the beneficiaries of the proceeds raised from the tournament.”
