KU announces spring dates for Spotlight on Care

LAWRENCE — Spotlight on Care will resume in Spring 2021 at the University of Kansas with some stylistic shifts as COVID-19 continues to affect higher education.

This semester, the series will take place biweekly at 11 a.m. Thursdays, beginning Feb. 11. Hosted via Zoom, each session will feature perspectives and practices of colleagues who have adapted the content and delivery of their work, with an eye toward practices of care and equity, in spite of the limitations enforced by the pandemic.

Upcoming session topics:

  • How campus units have shifted their methods for sharing and showcasing work
  • Considerations about the roles and services of public universities now and in the future
  • What contributions researchers at KU have offered our understanding of and behavior around COVID-19, one year after the World Health Organization declared the pandemic
  • How we engage the natural world in our well-being and what regular practices we can adopt
  • How graduate students find well-being and community through collective and distanced creative outlets
  • What it means to celebrate Earth Day on a planet riddled with change.

The series is co-hosted by The Commons, the Institute for Policy & Social Research Center for Compassionate and Sustainable Communities and the Spencer Museum of Art.

The six sessions this semester will occur Feb. 11, Feb. 25, March 11, March 25, April 8 and April 22.

Register for individual sessions via Zoom.
