University Theatre announces 2016-'17 performance season
LAWRENCE — The University Theatre’s upcoming season will continue to push artistic boundaries with shows that are thoughtful, entertaining and paradigm-shifting. Through classic and contemporary productions, the season will address how and why people make the choices that change or alter their lives and the lives of those around them.
“Theatre allows us to see inside a person and observe the world from their point of view,” said Dennis Christilles, University Theatre artistic director and associate professor of theatre. “This is particularly relevant with this year’s season because of the many diverse lives and perspectives that will be presented.”
This season the directors and students will explore gender identity issues, encourage audience interaction, review a William Inge classic, showcase a Broadway hit and more.
“In the best tradition of theatre, audiences will leave with an experience that sticks to the roof of their mind – for the students working on these productions, few will find the journey less than life-altering .”
