Call for semester start volunteers

LAWRENCE — Faculty and staff have an opportunity to connect with new and returning University of Kansas students and their families before the start of the fall semester classes.

The Office of Student Affairs is seeking more than 100 volunteers to help with a variety of activities related to student move-in at the residence halls, the University Welcome and wayfinding as classes begin. The new University Welcome on Friday, Aug. 23, will need an estimated 50 volunteers to distribute tickets and giveaways, assist with seating, and at the end of the event, help incoming students find their way to the welcome hosted by their academic unit.

Volunteers need to be ready with a KU smile, their nametag, and their supervisor’s authorization to work at an alternate location. Some responsibilities also require closed-toe shoes.

Volunteer shifts are between 1 1/2 and 3 hours and are available for a variety of times on:

  • Sunday, Aug. 18
  • Thursday, Aug. 22
  • Friday, Aug. 23
  • Monday, Aug. 26
  • Tuesday, Aug. 27.
