KU to honor sustainability award recipients at Earth Month event

LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas Center for Sustainability will recognize 10 individuals and projects with Campus Sustainability Leadership Awards on Friday, April 24, as part of KU's Earth Month festivities. The event will take place at 3:30 p.m. on the Dance Pavilion west of Potter Lake and is open to the public.

“Students, faculty and staff throughout campus are developing solutions that address challenging social and environmental issues,” said Jeff Severin, director of the Center for Sustainability. “Our annual awards program is an opportunity to show our appreciation for just a few of the leaders in our community who are helping advance society toward a more sustainable future."

The Sustainability Leadership Awards recognize outstanding leadership and creativity in addressing issues of environmental, economic and social responsibility on the KU campus and in the broader community. Award recipients are nominated by their peers and selected by a committee that includes past award winners.
