KU Libraries provide new inclusive resources, updated facilities

LAWRENCE — KU Libraries are offering several new resources and spaces for students, faculty and staff across campus.

Watson Library now offers private, gender-inclusive, ADA-accessible restrooms on the third floor. The addition of these private restrooms complements the existing gender-inclusive, ADA-compliant restrooms available on the second floor of Anschutz Library. Newly modified, ADA-accessible restrooms are now available on the fourth and fifth floors of Watson Library as well.

The libraries are in the planning stages to develop ADA-compliant, gender-inclusive restrooms at Kenneth Spencer Research Library.

In coordination with the Office of Diversity & Equity and the School of Engineering, the libraries are pleased to announce that a new reflection room, located in 2300C Spahr Library, is now available. This space is available expressly for the purposes of reflection, meditation and prayer, regardless of faith or denomination. The libraries offer two additional reflection rooms, located in 585 Watson 585 and 320L Anschutz. The rooms will be available for use during regularly scheduled building hours. Additional details about these and other reflection rooms across campus are available at http://diversity.ku.edu/reflection-room.

“We are excited about the renovations that our libraries have recently undergone,” said Kent Miller, associate dean of KU Libraries. “Creating new, inclusive spaces for students, faculty and staff is important and necessary, and we will continue pursuing ways to provide these services.”
