Panelists will discuss Russian influence, cybersecurity in the 2016 elections
LAWRENCE — University of Kansas professors will take part in a panel, "Russian Interference, Cybersecurity, Micro-Targeting and the 2016 Election," part of the Global Headline Series.
The event will take place 4-5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, in the Centennial Room of the Kansas Union.
From Facebook ads to targeting voting infrastructure, allegations abound about Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. elections, intending to undermine public faith in America's political process. Some topics KU panelists will discuss include how social media makes Americans more susceptible to this kind of intrusion, why Russian ads were so successful and how to recognize such content in the future.
The panelists:

- Hyunjin Seo, associate professor of journalism
- Erik Scott, associate professor of history
The moderator is Shannon O’Lear, director of Center for Global & International Studies.
