News conference to introduce athletics director set for July 11 at 11 a.m.

LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas will officially introduce Jeff Long, the university’s new director of athletics, at a news conference at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, in the Lied Center Pavilion.

The news conference will begin with opening remarks by Drue Jennings, who headed the university’s search process, as well as Chancellor Douglas A. Girod and Long. After that, the three will sit together for a Q-and-A period with members of the media.

The Pavilion will be equipped with mult-boxes, tiered risers and reserved seating for media.

For space purposes, media who are planning to attend the news conference are asked to RSVP to Erinn Barcomb-Peterson, director of KU News, at ebp@ku.edu by 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 10. 
Ample parking is available in the Lied Center lot. Media will not need a parking permit.

The news conference will be livestreamed at kuathletics.com

Long was announced as the university’s new director of athletics July 5. He will begin his role August 1.
