The Commons announces Red Hot Research dates for fall 2018
LAWRENCE — In its 13th semester, Red Hot Research will feature four sessions for faculty research, including one in conjunction with the Free State Festival and two sessions for graduate student research. This series for KU researchers is built of five short presentations from across the University of Kansas in an effort to share research among colleagues. Through this series, 237 faculty members and 30 graduate students have shared their work.
The first event will take place at 4 p.m. Aug. 31 at The Commons and will be based loosely on the theme of “Human, Next” to feature ways in which research at KU is examining human evolution and adaptation. The second session will take place off-site at the Lawrence Arts Center Black Box Theatre, in conjunction with the Free State Festival and addressing the theme of activism.
In keeping with the goals of this series, presenters are asked to consider how other disciplinary perspectives could contribute to their research; the likely next steps for the research; and challenges that they face in conducting the research. In turn, audience members are asked to, from their own perspectives, offer insights, questions and ideas.
