Barbara Bichelmeyer announced as fourth provost candidate

LAWRENCE — Barbara Bichelmeyer is the fourth of four finalists for the position of provost and executive vice chancellor of the Lawrence campus at the University of Kansas.

Bichelmeyer is currently the provost and executive vice chancellor of the University of Missouri–Kansas City. Other details about the candidate, including a complete curriculum vitae, are available at the search webpage.

Bichelmeyer will deliver a public presentation to campus from 4-5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, in the Adams Alumni Center, Summerfield Room. A reception will follow in the Adams Alumni Center, Bruckmiller/McGee Rooms, from 5-6 p.m.

The presentation will be livestreamed, and an archived video link will be available after the presentation is over, at the search webpage. An online evaluation form will also be available on that page.

Names and other details about the four candidates have been announced approximately 48 hours before their visit. Each candidate delivers a public presentation followed by a reception.

Chancellor Douglas A. Girod established a search committee in May to lead the university’s efforts to identify a new provost. Michelle Mohr Carney, dean of the School of Social Welfare, and Steven Soper, Foundation Distinguished Professor of chemistry and mechanical engineering, have served as co-chairs of the committee. The executive search firm R. William Funk and Associates assisted the committee.
