KU expert can discuss how LGBTQ issues and controversies might affect November midterm elections
LAWRENCE – As the 2022 midterm elections draw near, University of Kansas expert Don Haider-Markel is available to discuss how LGBTQ candidates, key issues and controversies might affect the Nov. 3 election.
A professor in the Department of Political Science, Haider-Markel can speak about national political trends and potential policy implications. His research includes American politics and public policy, particularly transgender politics like Caitlyn Jenner’s influence on transgender voting attitudes, and broader LGBTQ issues involving such candidates in state legislative races and voter viewpoints on hot-button issues such as transgender military service.
Now in his 25th year at KU, he is founder of a group nicknamed “Team Kansas” that he assembled in 2014 to collaborate on researching transgender issues in politics. It resulted in the book “The Remarkable Rise of Transgender Rights” (University of Michigan Press, 2018).
