KU holds steady at No. 74 among publics in latest U.S. News & World Report rankings
LAWRENCE — For the second consecutive year, the University of Kansas is ranked No. 74 among public universities in U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Colleges” rankings, released today.
Other highlights from this year’s ranking include the following:
- KU has three undergraduate programs ranked in the top 50 among publics: Nursing (No. 14), Psychology (No. 37) and Business (No. 44).
- KU also has ranked undergraduate programs in Engineering (No. 52), Economics (No. 53) and Computer Science (No. 61).
- The university is ranked No. 40 among publics in the Best Value Schools category.
“We recognize that some students and families look to these rankings when making their college decisions,” said Chancellor Douglas A. Girod. “That said, we remain focused on our own measures of success, which align with the Kansas Board of Regents’ strategic plan, the needs of Kansas businesses and communities, and our aspirations as one of the nation’s leading research institutions. Our One KU initiative and Strategic Framework are helping us coordinate our work across KU and focus on priorities that matter most.”
U.S. News publishes its “Best Colleges” rankings each fall. These rankings are different from the annual graduate school rankings, which are published each spring. In the most recent edition of the graduate school rankings, KU had eight graduate programs in the top 10 and 55 programs in the top 50 among public universities.
