Tickets go on sale for Day on the Hill concert featuring Turnstile
LAWRENCE — Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. today for the upcoming Day on the Hill concert featuring Grammy-winning rock group Turnstile.
Turnstile, which made history this year by winning Grammy Awards in both the metal and rock categories in the same year, will be joined by artists Slayyyter and Die Spitz for the Oct. 6 event, which marks the return of the Day on the Hill concert series that ran at KU from the early 1990s through 2007.
Tickets can be purchased online through the KU Conference Center website.
The event is a partnership between KU and Mammoth Live, a Lawrence-based independent promoter of concerts and major events across the country.
“Day on the Hill is such a legendary part of Lawrence and KU music history,” Mammoth co-founder Josh Hunt said. “We are beyond excited to help revive the spirit of this iconic event in modern times. We feel we couldn’t have asked for a better lineup in 2026 to honor this Kansas tradition.”
Day on the Hill began with Pearl Jam’s historic performance as an outdoor concert hosted by the University of Kansas Student Union Activities using leftover budget money. In subsequent years, the event featured bands such as They Might Be Giants and The Urge, as well as a rotating cast of local and regional acts.
“The return of a concert to the Hill is a landmark moment for KU,” said Heather Blanck, vice chancellor of strategic growth initiatives and real estate for KU. “We’re excited to activate one of the university’s most treasured spaces and create an experience that celebrates the spirit of our campus and our city. This event is about bringing people together — from KU students and alumni to music fans across the Greater Kansas City area — and showcasing the Hill as a vibrant destination.”
The band Turnstile formed in 2010 as a hardcore punk group and has since evolved into the realms of metal and rock. Its 2021 breakthrough album, “Glow On,” earned three Grammy nominations and launched the band to the top of concert bills. Turnstile’s 2025 album, “Never Enough,” received five Grammy nominations in 2026, making Turnstile the first band to be nominated in the rock, alternative and metal categories in the same year. The band took home the Grammy for Best Metal Performance for the song “Birds” and the Grammy for Best Rock Album.
Slayyyter features electropop sounds and recently released her third studio album, “Worst Girl in America.” Austin rock group Die Spitz released its debut album, “Something to Consume,” in 2025.
