KU Debate will present 'Resolved: The Authority of the President of the United States Should Be Substantially Curtailed'

LAWRENCE — KU Libraries will host a Gallery Lecture Series presentation by the University of Kansas debate team and Scott Harris, director and coach. The presentation, titled “Resolved: The Authority of the President of the United States Should Be Substantially Curtailed,” will take place from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, in Watson Library, third floor west.

The award-winning team will present a debate on the role of Congress in restricting the authority of the president. Following the presentation, debaters will participate in a question-and-answer session led by Harris, the David B. Pittaway Director of Debate.

The Gallery Lecture Series was developed in conjunction with the Haricombe Gallery exhibition, “For the People: KU Libraries Celebrate 150 Years of Publicly Accessible Government Information.” The Gallery Lecture Series features interdisciplinary lectures and creative works from scholars and researchers across campus and the community. This lecture is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be provided. For more information, visit the Gallery Lecture Series webpage.
