Media advisory: KU librarian can speak on collection of radical political literature
LAWRENCE - Politics have been a breeding ground for radical literature since the country was founded. No matter the political ideology, pamphlets, newsletters, books websites and nowdays, blogs, have espoused the merits of one’s political ideas while decrying others. The University of Kansas has the nation’s largest collection of both right- and left-wing radical political literature in the Wilcox Collection of Contemporary Political Movements, located in Spencer Research Library.
Becky Schulte, subject specialist for the collection, can speak about the array of materials in the Wilcox Collection, including books, newsletters and ephemera published under 2012 presidential contender Ron Paul’s name.
More than 18,000 individuals and groups from the 1960s to the present are represented in the thousands of books, periodicals, ephemeral materials, audio tapes, bumper stickers and more housed in the library.
