KU faculty members selected for 2021-22 class of senior administrative fellows

LAWRENCE — A University of Kansas program with a commitment to developing potential in faculty has announced its newest cohort. The Senior Administrative Fellows Program, which began in 1993, cultivates the leadership skills and organizational know-how of tenured faculty through a yearlong exploration and mentoring curriculum.

Thirteen KU faculty members have been selected to take part in the SAF Program for the 2021-2022 academic year.

“The Senior Administrative Fellows Program provides a forum for our faculty to connect with others from across campus who are also actively considering how they might contribute to leadership, " said J. Christopher Brown, vice provost for faculty development and a past senior administrative fellow. “By meeting and getting to know many campus administrative leaders, fellows gain a valuable global perspective on all that is involved in taking on leadership roles in a major, public research university.”

The program is led by Brown and associate vice provost Jennifer Ng with the assistance of Jenny Mehmedovic, associate director of the Center for Faculty Development & Mentoring. The class of fellows is selected from applications solicited in the spring semester of the previous academic year.

“We are entering yet another academic year during a pandemic when additional pressures are on higher education,” Brown said. “Learning more about KU’s response to these pressures brings a valuable level of awareness among the fellows. This awareness will serve our university well, no matter the roles the fellows play in the future.”
