Supersonic jets flying over Lawrence campus in conjunction with Dole Institute celebration July 22
LAWRENCE — A University of Kansas Lawrence campus flyover by four T-38 Talons from the 435th Fighter Training Squadron out of Randolph Air Force Base in Texas is among the Landmark Celebration festivities marking 20 years of the Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics and what would have been former U.S. Sen. Bob Dole’s 100th birthday.
Traveling from the northwest to the southeast, the jets are scheduled to fly over the Dole Institute at 11 a.m. July 22.
A civilian flyover with smoke trail by Derek Rogers, of Lawrence, will cap off the afternoon’s family-friendly outdoor slate of programming near the end of the day July 22, scheduled for 4 p.m.
The Landmark Celebration events run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 22.
