Alumnus Scot Pollard will host bowling party to support student scholarships

LAWRENCE — Scot Pollard and his wife, Dawn, in partnership with the School of Education, will host the 2020 bowling party Jan. 24 at Royal Crest Bowling Lanes.

On-site registration will open at 5:30 p.m., and the two-hour event is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. with prizes and awards to follow. Awards will be given to participants for Best Team Name, Best Team Outfit and Best Decorated Lane. In addition, the team with the highest score at the end of the two hours will receive the event’s traveling bowling pin trophy.

“Dawn and I are pleased to continue with this newest event to raise money for the school, and we look forward to getting back to Lawrence during the colder season,” Scot Pollard said.

The bowling event is one of the school’s most popular alumni events and is intended to engage alumni while supporting School of Education student scholarship recipients. This year’s event theme is “Totally 80’s Bowling Party,” and participants are encouraged to wear their best 1980s attire.

Registration is open to the public, and all ages and abilities are welcome to participate. Interested bowlers are required to register a team of five individuals for a total cost of $200. Online registration can be found here.

“Scot and Dawn continue to amaze us with their support for the school’s current and future students,” said Rick Ginsberg, dean of the School of Education. “Plus, we are always guaranteed to have a good time.”

Lane sponsorship opportunities are also available for those who are not able to gather a team or make it to the Lawrence area. Businesses and individuals who are interested in sponsoring a bowling lane for the tournament will need to complete the online sponsorship registration here.

Current event sponsors include Wayne & Larry’s Sports Bar & Grill, Crown Toyota, NIC Inc., Everspring and McDonald Veon, P.A.
