U.S. News & World Report highlights KU online education programs in 2020 rankings

LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas School of Education has three programs ranked among the nation’s best in the 2020 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Online Programs,” released last month.

Rankings this year now include online programs in specific academic specializations. The school’s online master’s degree in special education is ranked No. 1; the online master’s degree in curriculum & instruction is ranked No. 15, and the online master’s degree in educational administration is ranked No. 22.

“Our online graduate programs are innovative and of the same high quality as our campus-based programs,” said Rick Ginsberg, dean of the School of Education. “We feel this year’s results are strong and reflective of that.”

In addition to the “Best Online Programs,” U.S. News & World Report releases its “Best Graduate Schools” rankings each March and its “Best Colleges” rankings in September. In the most recent graduate rankings, KU has 48 programs ranked in the top 50 among public institutions. In the most recent college rankings, KU ranks 59th among public institutions.

The KU School of Education is a nationally ranked school, preparing educators and health/sport/exercise professionals as leaders. The school is in the process of changing its name to the School of Education & Human Sciences, effective fall 2020. More information on the name change can be found here.
