Media Advisory: U.S. District Court to host naturalization ceremony at Dole Institute

WHAT: The University of Kansas and the Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics welcomes the U.S. District Court and approximately 100 prospective new citizens from many different nations, and their families, to the Dole Institute of Politics for a naturalization ceremony on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 10 a.m.

WHERE: Dole Institute of Politics at KU.

WHEN: Friday, Sept. 16, 2011

WHO: U.S. Senior District Judge John W. Lungstrum, who will preside over the ceremony, Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little and U.S. Representative Kevin Yoder.

BACKGROUND: The ceremony is an annual event that the Court has held at the Dole Institute since 2003. It coincides with numerous other Constitution Day activities across the country in recognition of the signing of the Constitution by the Founding Fathers on September 17, 1787.

The prospective new citizens and their families will be allowed to bring cameras to the ceremony.

Due to seating limitations, the ceremony is open only to invited guests and the media.
