The National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists (NOBCChE) welcomed students to its annual conference, where members of KU's chapter accepted their certificate of charter. Members represented the Department of Chemistry at tabling events and presented research at poster sessions.

John Marshall, Lawrence, and Graham Revare, Prairie Village, reached the championship final at the JW Patterson Debate Tournament, hosted by the University of Kentucky Sept. 28-30, taking second place in a field of more than 100 teams from across the country.
