New hours among changes for KU Recreation Services

LAWRENCE — Hours at the Ambler Student Recreation Fitness Center have changed, and other reductions have been implemented across programs and services.

Last spring, Student Senate voted to provide an increase to KU Recreation Services for Fiscal Year 2018. While this increase was needed, it did not cover the amount necessary to sustain services, facilities and programs. Due to the shortfall, the following are some of the more notable reductions:

•   Decrease in hours/student employment hours available for Ambler Student Recreation Fitness Center
•   Decrease in number of and duration of classes offered for KU Fit Group Fitness
•   Elimination of some intramural sports

The aforementioned reductions have been applied to the fall and spring semesters. Following are the new hours, beginning this semester.

Regular semester hours (Aug. 21-Dec. 15): Ambler Student Recreation Fitness Center

Monday-Thursday: 6 a.m.-11 p.m.

Friday: 6 a.m.-8 p.m.
