CMS troubleshooting
While IT staff can assist with technical difficulties, here are some common questions that come up:
- Alert: URL already taken. This occurs if a headline is the same as in past years. We recommend revising the headline.
- Error message on Featured Image page: Photos must be less than 2MB. If you resize the photo in Photoshop or similar editor so that the image is no larger than 1,200 pixels wide and set the quality to medium-high, the photo should save. (This will also improve page loading time for readers.)
- Needs alt text: You will also be unable to save this section until you enter alt text for the image.
- Story is missing in the News Hub: Once you hit “submit to KU News,” the story is sent to KU News and is not available to select until we have published it.
- A published story has been selected from News Hub, but it isn’t appearing on your site: For a story to appear in the News section of your homepage, you typically need to clear your site cache. Log in to your KU website, go to Configuration, then Development, then Performance, then choose “Clear all caches.”
