Candidate for director of Academic Accelerator Program to give presentation


LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas Academic Accelerator Program (KUAAP) has invited three candidates to campus for the position of academic director. Interviews will take place Tuesday, April 28 as well as May 5 and May 7.

J. Spencer Clark, assistant professor of education at Utah State University, will deliver an open presentation at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Jayhawk Room of the Kansas Union. The topic is “How do we best enable international students to flourish at KU?"

The KUAAP is a partnership between KU and Shorelight Education that combines English language instruction through the Applied English Center, academic instruction through the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and services and support to help students acculturate to a new social, linguistic and academic environment.

Working in collaboration with CLAS and its academic units, the AEC, administrative offices and students, the director will ensure the delivery of a high-quality academic experience for all students in the program.

Additional candidates will be announced 48 hours prior to their visit. Details of these presentations are as follows:

Tuesday, May 5: time and location TBA
