Dole Institute announces panelists for the 2024 Post Election Conference
LAWRENCE — The Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics at the University of Kansas has announced panelists for the 2024 Post Election Conference on Dec. 11.
Held biennially after midterm and general elections, the Dole Institute’s Post Election Conference brings journalists, practitioners and experts together to analyze campaigns and election results in Kansas and throughout the country, and what they’ll mean for the next two years. For the first time, the National Panel will be co-moderated by former Jerry Seib, Washington executive editor of The Wall Street Journal, and Bill Lacy, Dole Institute director emeritus.
Last month, the institute hosted the conference’s Kansas Panel, moderated by Kansas City Star lead political reporter Jonathan Shorman, and featured KCUR news director Lisa Rodriguez, Republican strategist Eric Pahls and Johnson County Democrats executive director Cole Robinson.
“We started the Post Election Conference 20 years ago to closely examine how elections are won and lost,” Lacy said. “The 2024 election cycle was highly unique, and we plan to show attendees why it was and what the outcome means.”
“The 2024 election will go down in history as one of the least predictable, most consequential of our time, and historians will be examining how it all happened for years to come,” said Seib, Dole Institute Visiting Fellow. “At this conference, we will have an early chance to tell that story with a distinguished panel of participants and observers.”
Panelists for the Post Election Conference’s National Panel are listed below:
- Molly Ball, senior political correspondent for The Wall Street Journal
- Brendan Buck, partner at Seven Letter and former adviser to Speakers Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and John Boehner (R-Ohio)
- Francesca Chambers, White House correspondent for USA Today
- Anita Dunn, former senior adviser to President Joe Biden
- Alex Latcham, director of congressional engagement for Donald Trump for President
- Jonathan Martin, politics bureau chief and senior political columnist at POLITICO
- Molly Murphy, president of Impact Research
- Chuck Todd, chief political analyst for NBC News.
“The unique perspectives these journalists, pollsters, strategists and consultants bring to the Post Election Conference will reveal inside strategies of both campaigns and assess their impacts on the final result,” said Dole Institute Director Audrey Coleman. “We look forward to gaining new insights in the discussions hosted by Bill and Jerry.”
The Post Election Conference’s National Panel will be held at the Dole Institute of Politics from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 11. The program will be streamed live on the institute’s website and YouTube channel.
