KU faculty, staff invited to Thank Goodness It’s Thursday gatherings at Lawrence, Medical Center campuses


LAWRENCE — The KU Alumni Association has announced dates for its Thank Goodness It’s Thursday event series for the 2024-’25 academic year, with the first of the networking and recognition events for University of Kansas faculty and staff set for Oct. 10 at the Jayhawk Welcome Center.

Presented in partnership with the Office of the Chancellor, Thank Goodness It’s Thursday gatherings offer KU faculty and staff from all university departments and units the opportunity to connect in a casual, laidback setting, with the goal of cultivating relationships to foster a stronger, more collaborative KU community. New this year, the Alumni Association will host a Thank Goodness It’s Thursday event on the KU Medical Center campus in Kansas City.

4:30-6:30 p.m.

The Alumni Association is planning an additional event for the spring semester, with details to come.

Each Thank Goodness It’s Thursday event will spotlight impactful collaborations happening across the university. Initiatives that will be highlighted at the October event include the Spencer Museum of Art “Native Fashion” exhibition, a new research center at the School of Engineering and the Center for Educational Opportunity Programs’ work to support middle and high school students in Kansas City. The March event will recognize individuals and groups who are serving as catalysts for connection at KU, whether with students, alumni, or fellow faculty and staff members.

Drinks, snacks and giveaways will be included, and attendees are encouraged to register in advance. Register here for the Oct. 10 event.
