KU ranked in latest U.S. News & World Report rankings

LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas ranks No. 81 among public universities in this year’s U.S. News & World Report “Best Colleges” rankings, released today.

Other items of note from this year’s ranking include the following:

  • KU ranks No. 16 among publics in the undergraduate teaching rankings, which recognize institutions for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.
  • KU’s BSN program in nursing ranks No. 19 among publics and No. 26 overall.
  • KU ranks No. 25 among publics in the “Best Value Schools” rankings.
  • KU remains in the top 50 among publics in psychology (No. 29) and business (No. 41).

KU ranked No. 80 among public universities in last year’s rankings.

“We appreciate that some students and families look to these rankings when making their college decisions,” said Chancellor Douglas A. Girod. “That said, we remain focused on our own measures of success, which align with the Kansas Board of Regents’ strategic plan, the needs of Kansas businesses and communities, and our aspirations as one of the nation’s leading research institutions.”

U.S. News publishes its “Best Colleges” rankings each fall. These rankings are different from the annual graduate school rankings, which are published each spring. In the 2023 edition of the graduate school rankings, KU had nine graduate programs in the top 10 and 51 programs in the top 50 among public universities.
